Success probability for selectively neutral invading species in the line model with a random fitness landscape

نویسندگان

چکیده

We consider a spatial (line) model for invasion of population by single mutant with stochastically selectively neutral fitness landscape, independent from the landscape non-mutants. This is similar to those considered in Farhang-Sardroodi et al. [PLOS Comput. Biol., 13(11), 2017; J. R. Soc. Interface, 16(157), 2019]. show that probability fixation size $N$, starting mutant, greater than $1/N$, which would be case if there were no variation whatsoever. In small regime, we recover precise asymptotics success mutant. demonstrates introduction randomness provides an advantage minority mutations this model, and shows increases system size. further demonstrate mutants have setting only because they are better at exploiting unusually favorable environments when arise, not any pockets favorability environment overall.

Neutral Fitness Landscape in the Cellular Automata Majority Problem

We study in detail the fitness landscape of a difficult cellular automata computational task: the majority problem. Our results show why this problem landscape is so hard to search, and we quantify the large degree of neutrality found in various ways. We show that a particular subspace of the solution space, called the ”Olympus”, is where good solutions concentrate, and give measures to quantit...

investigating the feasibility of a proposed model for geometric design of deployable arch structures

deployable scissor type structures are composed of the so-called scissor-like elements (sles), which are connected to each other at an intermediate point through a pivotal connection and allow them to be folded into a compact bundle for storage or transport. several sles are connected to each other in order to form units with regular polygonal plan views. the sides and radii of the polygons are...

Probability-possibility DEA model with Fuzzy random data in presence of skew-Normal distribution

Data envelopment analysis (DEA) is a mathematical method to evaluate the performance of decision-making units (DMU). In the performance evaluation of an organization based on the classical theory of DEA, input and output data are assumed to be deterministic, while in the real world, the observed values of the inputs and outputs data are mainly fuzzy and random. A normal distribution is a contin...

A Probability Model for Random Fiber

LEE, SUNG WON. A Probability Model for Random Fiber Breakage. (Under the direction of JOHN WILLIAM BISHlR). Two fundamental questions in connection with the random breakage of fibers in a breakage system are set forth: Given a fiber group of any particular length, (1) What is the probability that a fiber of the length groups breaks at all? (2) What is the probability that a fiber breaks into s ...
